Personal Retreat Journal Prompts

As I’ve done at the end of the past few years, I am sending out some journal prompts for personal reflection time. Whether you are going to take a day or so for a personal retreat or just find a quiet space on your calendar that’s just for you, here are some questions to ponder:

  • Where is my ego influencing my heart?
  • Where are there signs of drift or exiling myself from my core self?
  • What feeling(s) am I avoiding?
  • What actions(s) am I avoiding?
  • Who do I need to forgive?
  • How consistent am I in living a true story? (If not, why?)
  • How consistent am I in taking care of my body? (Nutrition, movement, rest)
  • How much time am I spending in stillness? Solitude? Nature?
  • Do the people I love know that I love them?
  • What boundaries do I need to reinforce in my relationships?
  • What are my priorities for 2021?

I designed these questions so that you can keep returning to them for some self-examination throughout the coming year.

And now some bonus prompts!

These questions were posed by my business/creative partner, Emily, in her brilliantly crafted LinkedIn article on processing emotions.

  • What feelings have you been living with for the last nine months?
  • How have you adapted to those feelings in your everyday circumstances?
  • What has this season of life meant to you? How have you expressed that?
  • What have you gotten used to over the last nine months? How does that adaptation feel?
  • What have you left behind for good?
  • What seems impossible to let go of or put down?
  • Who do you want to be when this is all done?
